US District court's ban on Samsung Galaxy Nexus appealed

A few days back, the U.S. District Court judge Lucy Koh had put a ban on the sales of Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the U.S. as a response to Apple's appeal against patent infringement by Samsung.


Prior to this Apple had also won the case related to the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, hence banning the sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the U.S. by the same court.

Apple has appealed on 7 grounds and against 25 samsung smartphones looking for a ban on their sales in the U.S.

Apple had alleged that Samsung Galaxy Nexus infringed patent number 8,086,604 which is the patent by Apple about the technology that Apple uses to do a search in multiple fields with the help of a single interface.

Samsung had also appealed a number of cases against apple relating to a number of issues, like the emoticons issue. But Samsung had to face the loss, as Apple won 2 of the cases this June. Now, Samsung is fighting back, and appealing on seven grounds to keep its smartphones sales up in the U.S.

The ban on Samsung Galaxy Nexus would also delay the arrival of newest version of the Android, the Android 4.1, jellybean in the market, as the Galaxy Nexus was the first smartphone to be released on the market with the latest version of the android OS.
